The Department of Basic Education is hosting its annual iNkosi Albert Luthuli Oral History finals. National adjudication of the 2016 competition is taking place on the 5th and 6th October 2016 at Freedom Park. This will coincide with an awards ceremony and a gala dinner to conclude the proceedings in the evening of the 6th October. The Deputy Director General will deliver the keynote address as well as present awards to the top winners at the gala dinner on the 6th October.
“The oral history programme is named after one of the fearless luminaries of our liberation struggle, iNkosi Albert John Luthuli. Chief Albert Luthuli has resonance with the Department of Basic Education as they recognise his credentials as an educator –completing his Higher Teachers Training course on a scholarship at Adams College, before taking up his first teaching assignment in the same college as one of the two only Africans to join staff”.
