Freedom Park Takes Its Educational Programmes to the Rural Area of Ga Mokgatlha in the North West Province.
Today, Wednesday, 01 February 2017, Freedom Park Education and Outreach units will kick start their ongoing outreach programme at Thebe Ya Tlhjwa Secondary School in the deep rural area of Ga Mokgatlha in North West Province.
The visit is a culmination of an educational excursion by the school to Freedom Park in 2016, which led to the school principal Mr Rakate to formally invite Freedom Park to bring educational programme to his school. “Our school nor our learners do not have technological resources to access Freedom Park educational information on the website, says’ the school principal.
About 140 grade 10 and 12 learners will participate in the programme This school will actually be the first one to experience some brand new educational programmes which are the Freedom Park Puzzles as well as the Ideas of Race & Racism.
Thebe Ya Tlhajwa secondary school Management has specifically requested Freedom Park to share information on the following topics: The History of Freedom Park, Resistance to Apartheid Era 1970-1984, Civil Society Protest 1950-1970, Democracy in South Africa and coming to terms with the past and Career guidance.
Learners will also take part in debate themes relating to the topics deliberated upon by the Freedom Park team. Research techniques utilizing, books, laptops, internet, presentation skill, reference techniques, oral research are some of the skills that will be imparted to the learners Distribution of learning material
