OVERVIEW OF THE PARK
Freedom Park mourns the demise of an outstanding anti-apartheid activist George Nene who died on Friday. Mr. Nene was the former ambassador to Nigeria and Switzerland.
Nene was the chairperson of the South African Association of Former Ambassadors‚ South Africa’s first High Commissioner to Nigeria‚ former Permanent Representative of South Africa to the United Nations in Geneva as well as a former deputy director- general of the department of International Relations and Cooperation.
We pay tribute to this true son of the African soil in his fight against apartheid and his role in the development of our relations with various countries across the world.
Freedom Park mourns the passing away of one of the greatest stalwarts of our time, Nomzamo Winifred Madikizela Mandela. Defiant, beautiful and unbroken, Winnie Mandela remained one of the most powerful activists in the world as she tirelessly worked in the fight against apartheid. Her courage inspired freedom fighters in South Africa and the Diaspora and was an inspiration to women across the world.
We pay tribute to this courageous, captivating and inspiring patriot who dedicated her life to the betterment of our people.
