OVERVIEW OF THE PARK
Freedom Park bids a teary farewell to Ma Agnes Msimang, a struggle heroine, gender activist and a true servant of the people. She served as a deputy chief representative to India and trained Indian school children about South Africa’s struggle for liberation as well as the signing of the national anthem. Indeed she was a surrogate mother to many activists both inside the country and those living in exile.
Freedom Park mourns the passing on of struggle veteran Comrade Moss Chikane. Mr Chikane became an MP in 1994 after the country's first democratic elections. In 2005, he was appointed as South Africa's Ambassador to Germany. Five years later, he was posted to Zambia where he also served as a full term ambassador.
Freedom Park mourns the demise of struggle hero and trade unionist Eric Mtshali. We pay tribute to this great son of the African soil. We mourn the loss of a great and respectable liberation stalwart, who served this country selflessly all his life.
