OVERVIEW OF THE PARK
Freedom Park mourns the passing on of struggle veteran Comrade Moss Chikane. Mr Chikane became an MP in 1994 after the country's first democratic elections. In 2005, he was appointed as South Africa's Ambassador to Germany. Five years later, he was posted to Zambia where he also served as a full term ambassador.
Freedom Park mourns the demise of struggle hero and trade unionist Eric Mtshali. We pay tribute to this great son of the African soil. We mourn the loss of a great and respectable liberation stalwart, who served this country selflessly all his life.
During this significant month we get to understand the importance of our nationality; about who we are so that we can ultimately gain an appreciation and embody our unique history, culture, spirituality national symbols and indigenous systems. We should be talking about deeper things. About the impact of reconciliation and nation building; riveting as we unpack exactly that it means to be South African and African.
