OVERVIEW OF THE PARK
We pay tribute to one of South Africa's greatest but sometimes forgotten heroes of the struggle for freedom.
Mangaliso Robert Sobukwe is arguably one of the less documented freedom fighters in South Africa. As a leader of the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC), Sobukwe led from the forefront in the anti-pass campaign which resulted in the infamous 21 March 1960 Sharpeville massacre, in which 69 people died. His famous quote: 'There is only one race. The human race.' resonates in us the very essence for which he stood for, a non-racial future rather than a multi-racial one.
Our very own Selbourne Sefume together 19 other tourism practitioners passed with flying colours in a recently launched Department of Tourism programme. Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom presented them with certificates as they head to China for three weeks.
The simple language exchanges will go a long way in making sure that we receive more Chinese tourists in this country. They have just completed 12 weeks of Mandarin learning.
Addressing the launch in September‚ Chinese deputy ambassador Li Song said the relationship with South Africa was growing and at its best levels ever. Song congratulated the trainees on their journey and said it would have value in their live going into the future.
From the CEO, Management and Staff of Freedom Park we wish you everything of best! – SHUNLI!
