the De Kork screws exhibition

On 23 July 2008 , the then Acting National Director of the National Prosecuting Authority  (NPA ), Advocate MJ Mpshe handed over to Freedom Park historic artefacts donated by the NPA and various families.

This donation constitutes two categories of artefacts:

  • Items from the Eugene de Kock and Wouter Basson investigations and trials.
  • Items recovered by the Missing Persons Task Team in the NPA during the excavations and exhumations of burial sites of persons who disappeared during the apartheid era in political circumstances.

This is important in memorialising our past and the human losses and suffering that formed such a large part of the struggle for freedom and democracy.
