Freedom Park Engages Jopie Fourie Learners in the Time Travel Event

Freedom Park will today 27 June 2017, host the Time Travel event which will include 30 grade 7 learners from Jopie Fourie Primary School. The Time Travel Method is an educational method which uses local heritage in a learning process, to create reflections on contemporary issues and provide tools for social cohesion as well as contribute to community building.

The theme for this year’s Time Travel is “Radical Economic Transformation” and it is meant to equip learners with skills to address  Salvokop community economic challenges in which Jopie Fourie Primary School is situated.

Learners will be expected to reflect on the Salvokop economic changes spanning from early 1900s. They will conduct oral and archival research and find economic opportunities and reasons to rebuild the community.

Through artistic presentations and spiritual reflection, they will reflect on whether those economic changes are sustainable.

Details of the event are as follows:

Date: 27 June 2017

Time: 10h00

Venue: Freedom Park
