Freedom Park Hosted the Angolan President


Minister of Arts and Culture Mr Nathi Mthethwa and minister of International Relations and Cooperation International Ms Maite Nkoana -Mashabane as well as Freedom Park CEO Ms Jane Mufamadi, received the Angolan delegation led by the Angolan president Mr João Lourenço on 25 November 2017 at Freedom Park.

The main purpose for the visit to Freedom Park, was to lay a wreath at Isivivane, on the international boulder. Isivivane is a sacred space, a symbolic resting place for those who played a part in the freedom and liberation of South Africa. The president’s itinerary at Freedom Park also included a walk about at the Gallery of leaders, a space which is reserved to showcase leaders whose contribution stand out in human memory and history, in the national, continental and international platform. Leaders such as Augustine Neto the first president of Angola, Oliver Tambo, “Che" Guevara etc.

The visit ended by a picture session and the signing of the Freedom Park’s guest book.
