The Olof Palme Youth Education Initiative to be held at Freedom Park, Pretoria, 21 February 2018
Freedom Park in collaboration with the Olof Palme Youth Education Initiative, the Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation and Freedom Park will hold an Olof Palme Education Initiative on Wednesday 21 February 2018 at Freedom Park, Pretoria.
More than 250 learners from Ivory Park and Steve Tswete Secondary Schools will participate in the programme. His Excellency Mr Kgalema Mothlanthe, Chairman and Patron of the Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation, and former President of the Republic of South Africa will deliver a keynote address.
The Olof Palme Youth Education Initiative is an educational programme that was launched officially at Midrand High School, South Africa on 20 October 2017 by His Excellency Mr Kgalema Motlanthe, the Patron and Chairman of Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation.
This initiative is one of the platforms founded to develop relevant educational projects, enabling the youth of Sweden and South Africa to formally begin to reflect on the legacy of Olof Palme, the former Swedish Prime Minister. The programme is multipronged, viz: the Anti-Apartheid Movement and the International Solidarity against Apartheid; Olof Palme Youth Annual Lecture; and South Africa-Sweden Schools Exchange.
The objectives of this event is for learners to learn about the origins, aims and campaigns of the International Solidarity against apartheid in the form of An- Apartheid Movement. Learners will also discuss about other countries contribution in the struggle against apartheid and the methodologies applied.
