City of Tshwane museums celebrated the launch of the 2019 International Museums Day on the 17th of May at Ditsong Cultural History Museum.

 The 2019 theme was “Museums as cultural hubs : the future of tradition”. The participating museum heads and representatives including the City of Tshwane Metro Municipality spoke to the theme regarding the relevancy of museums within our communities and schools.

Freedom Park was amongst the participating museums which had their table-top exhibition stands displayed within the venue. The launch was filled with vibrant young learners and elders who entered into a dialogue about their individual perceptions on culture. There were cultural performances from a group called Usuthu @Production, poetry as well as Storytelling performance from Freedom Park .The launch was an opening of the free entry museums which started on the 16th and ending on the 25th of May within selective museums. Freedom Park is also one of the free entry museums that is also participating in a long week Education Programme displayed within the ://Hapo museum.
