Dick Mokoena is a long-standing member of Freedom Park’s Names Verification Committee. Also, he is a member of MK that went into exile in Angola during the liberation struggle. The purpose of the interview was two-fold: as R&D, we are developing profiles / biographies for each NVC member. Secondly, Mr Mokoena wished to speak about his time in exile, particularly MK / ANC camps in Angola.

Ma Agnes Msimang

Freedom Park bids a teary farewell to Ma Agnes Msimang, a struggle heroine, gender activist and a true servant of the people. She served as a deputy chief representative to India and trained Indian school children about South Africa’s struggle for liberation as well as the signing of the national anthem. Indeed she was a surrogate mother to many activists both inside the country and those living in exile.

Moss Chikane

Freedom Park mourns the passing on of struggle veteran Comrade Moss Chikane. Mr Chikane became an MP in 1994 after the country's first democratic elections. In 2005, he was appointed as South Africa's Ambassador to Germany. Five years later, he was posted to Zambia where he also served as a full term ambassador.
