International Human Rights Day is observed every year on the 10 December. This year Human Rights Day marks 71th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is not a coincidence, that on this date, Freedom Park and the Republic of Argentina will jointly host a Public Lecture on Reconciliation, themed: Memory, Truth and Justice. Ambassador H.E Mr Alberto D’Alotto will deliver a keynote address. The ambassador is expected to share the Argentine experience under the military dictatorship his country endured during the seventies. His lecture will concentrate on how the argentine society dealt with the consequences of that tragic past in order to establish the foundations of a strong democracy for the future.
Expected to attend are the Ambassadors, members of the Diplomatic Corps, Government officials, Government entities, Foundations, NGO’s, Academics, Youths and Civic Organizations. The audience will be afforded an opportunity to ask questions after the keynote address. After the questions and answer session, the audience will be invited to a temporal photo exhibition that will complement the ambassador’s speech.
“Argentina has also shared with South Africa the experience of the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team. This team participated in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of South Africa and is cooperating with South Africa and other countries in Africa that passed through violent processes,” said H.E D’ Alotto.
“The TRC is one of the organizations that recommended the establishment of Freedom Park says Jane Mufamadi, CEO Freedom Park.
