Media Release: Freedom Park Commemorates National Youth Day on 16 June 2020

Freedom Park, a National Heritage Destination, under the theme” Youth Power: Growing South Africa together in the period of Covid-19”, will virtually conduct Youth Day Commemoration event.  The event commences with a wreath laying ceremony at the Garden of Remembrance’s Wall of Names. Live streaming will take place on all Freedom Park social media platforms.

Since Freedom Park’s inception twenty years ago, remembering this historic day has been an annual occurrence for the organisation. The liberation struggle speaks to our mandate, that of honouring those who died in the struggle for humanity and freedom, engendering Social Cohesion, Reconcilliation and Nation building.

Freedom Park CEO Ms Jane Mufamadi, Council member Ms Fayruz Mohamed will deliver messages of encouragement and support to the youth of our country. The legendary poet Linda Ngele and actor Presley Chweneyagae will entertain the viewers. Sign language interpretation will be provided.
