17 March 2021
As one of a series of Human Rights Month Commemoration events, Freedom Park will on the 18 March 2021 conduct a Public Lecture in honour of Dulcie September. September was assassinated on 29 March 1988 outside the African National Congress headquarters in Paris, France. Her name is one the 143 000 names of the liberation struggle heroes and heroines, inscribed at Freedom Park’s Wall of Names.
The Dulcie September Annual Lecture is aimed at commemorating September’s achievements as a leader, freedom fighter and an activist. In 2009 she was posthumously awarded the National Order of Mendi for dedicating her life in the fight against apartheid.
The virtual event will be held in collaboration with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and EMS Production on the 18 March 2021. The public lecture precedes the documentary about Dulcie September that will be broadcast on Human Rights Day on SABC 3 at 19H30 produced by Enver Samuel of EMS Productions.
