JOB SUMMARY

To co-ordinate, manage, develop heritage education programs, storytelling content and performances. Facilitate the schools, youth and family programming, design learning and presentation/learning support material for schools and public. To coordinate Outreach and Tour guiding activities,

KEY PERFORMANCE AREA (KPA)

KPA

To develop policy for heritage education and outreach and link them to department’s mission and storyline of //hapo, the Garden of Remembrance and the Gallery of Leaders.
Develop and maintain story telling performances.
Establish and manage stakeholder relations.
Manage the writing and designing of teaching and learning material based on the Freedom Park’s story line.
Manage and facilitate heritage education, indigenous knowledge and awareness dialogues, and school/youth holiday camps.
Facilitate the Tour guiding activities and design the visitor flow within the tour guiding activities.
Develop the outreach programme and implement outreach programs.
Provide supervision, discipline, and ensure active participation of the unit in all processes within the organisation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Post-graduade degree in Heritage Studies, History, Indigenous Knowledge Systems, African Studies, and Education.

EXPERIENCE

5 to 8 years’ experience in management

5 to 8 years’ experience in the heritage industry and education field.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of Outreach Activities
Be able to work with communities.
Customer Relations.
Knowledge of heritage and history.
Be able to work with diverse people.
Be a team builder and leader.
Knowledge about liberation struggle history, contemporary culture and African thoughts throughout history.
A working knowledge of the Curriculum Statement of South Africa and the CAPS curriculum.
