JOB SUMMARY

To co-ordinate, manage, develop heritage education programs, storytelling content and performances. Facilitate the schools, youth and family programming, design learning and presentation/learning support material for schools and public. To coordinate Outreach and Tour guiding activities,

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREA (KPA)

 

 

KPA

 

  • To develop policy for heritage education and outreach and link them to department’s mission and storyline of //hapo, the Garden of Remembrance and the Gallery of Leaders.
  • Develop and maintain story telling performances.
  • Establish and manage stakeholder relations.
  • Manage the writing and designing of teaching and learning material based on the Freedom Park’s story line.
  • Manage and facilitate heritage education, indigenous knowledge and awareness dialogues, and school/youth holiday camps.
  • Facilitate the Tour guiding activities and design the visitor flow within the tour guiding activities.
  • Develop the outreach programme and implement outreach programs. 
  • Provide supervision, discipline, and ensure active participation of the unit in all processes within the organisation.

 

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Post-graduade degree in Heritage Studies, History, Indigenous Knowledge Systems, African Studies, and Education. 

 

 

 

EXPERIENCE

5 to 8 years’ experience in management

5 to 8 years’ experience in the heritage industry and education field.

 

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of Outreach Activities
  • Be able to work with communities.
  • Customer Relations.
  • Knowledge of heritage and history.
  • Be able to work with diverse people.
  • Be a team builder and leader.
  • Knowledge about liberation struggle history, contemporary culture and African thoughts throughout history.
  •  A working knowledge of the Curriculum Statement of South Africa and the CAPS curriculum.
